Common fence repairs we carry out
Snapped or leaning posts
Timber posts usually rot at ground level. We remove the old post and concrete and fit a new timber or concrete post, or use a concrete repair spur where that is the better fix.
Storm-damaged panels
Replacement panels matched as closely as possible to your existing fence, and re-secured so they do not lift again.
Rotten gravel boards and rails
Replacing timber gravel boards with concrete and renewing arris rails on closeboard fences to restore strength.
Gate repairs
Re-hanging, re-bracing and replacing hinges and latches on dropped or broken gates.
Repair or replace? An honest rule of thumb
If one or two posts have failed and the rest are solid, repair makes sense. If posts are failing along the run, the timber is soft when pressed with a screwdriver or the fence is past 15 years old, replacement usually works out cheaper over the next few years. We will show you what we find rather than just tell you.
Storm damage and insurance
Some home insurance policies cover storm damage to fences, often subject to wind-speed thresholds and the condition of the fence beforehand. We can provide photographs and a written report to support a claim. Check your policy wording before work starts.
